"A bold transcendence of ancient rhythm and tradition, evoking deep emotion and profound artistry."
Jesús Muñoz Flamenco is a fierce transcendence of Flamenco dance and music, evoking deep emotion and profound artistry that is shared with audiences across the world. Artistic director Jesús Muñoz founded the company in 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a passion to create visceral, cutting-edge Flamenco art that was in his own unique style. The company has since formed a physical, visual, and sonic vocabulary that intersects Flamenco with Latin, Jazz, and Hip-hop, reflecting the experiences and backgrounds of company artists and audiences. Additionally, Jesús Muñoz Flamenco is recognized for its dedication to preserving and innovating the “por derecho” improvisational philosophy and language of Flamenco dance and music, which are its foundation.

2024-25 Great Performance Series
|
Collision of Rhythm brought rhythm and fun to The Hartung in September. The family-friendly show featured the tap dancing and musical talent of Aaron Williams alongside the beatbox-juggler Bronkar Lee in a performance featuring 17 instruments - from drums, to piano, marimba, and saxophone. We opened our hearts and minds to the joy and hope that await us when we lay aside our differences, collaborate with our neighbors, and make something beautiful together, whether that's music or our communities!

Ballet Victoria was back again for The Nutcracker, a holiday favorite for all ages. Joining the professionals on stage were 20 of our Festival Dance Academy youth who joined the party scene, played the dragon, mice, and so much more!

Unit Souzou closed out our 2024-25 season presenting "Constant State of Otherness" an engaging, multi-layered performance work rooted in questions of identity and self worth – how we identify ourselves and how we label others. Through taiko, Japanese folk dance, song, and personal story, six performers guided the audience through a four-part journey inspired by experiences of isolation and displacement that come from not having an easy sense of home. By allowing stories to fractally unfold through the resonance of drum, voice and movement, Unit Souzou offered an invitation to find our shared longing to belong.
